Charlie Company, 1st Recon, together again
The vintage Marines of Charlie Company, 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, who served in the Vietnam War, held their annual reunion Oct. 5-8, 2017, in Branson, Mo.
Arriving on Thursday, Oct. 5, the recon Marines and their spouses gathered in the hospitality room at the Radisson Hotel for evening eats and Vietnam memories.
Day-two events began with a visit to the College of the Ozarks and a look at some museum-quality exhibits there in tribute to veterans of the Vietnam War. The school's culinary arts students then hosted our group for a delicious lunch. After chow, we visited the Missouri Vietnam Veterans Memorial, located on college grounds.
Friday evening featured a great dinner and show aboard the Showboat Branson Belle on Lake Taneycomo.
Saturday was an open day for shopping and visiting. A few of us toured the Shepherd of the Hills Fish Hatchery and watched fly-fishing enthusiasts angling for rainbow and brown trout in the White River below the lake's dam. It worked up an appetite for the annual banquet dinner served Saturday evening at the Radisson.
Everyone checked out of the Radisson on Sunday, already looking forward to next year's reunion. Until then, here's images from Charlie Company's 2017 reunion:
